At Karma we can finish each other's sentences, but we never run out of questions—which is why we paired two colleagues from separate departments and challenged them to an interview.

Does Karma know Gotham the way that Manhattan's juggernaut ad shops or Dumbo's niche digital boutiques do? Perhaps not. And yet, it's what we do know—the perennial currency of smart, strategic creative—that made the difference in becoming the creative agency partner for the New York Philharmonic, on the eve of a bold new season and a new Maestro.

I guess, technically, I am a more seasoned (no pun intended) server than I am account manager. I had worked in restaurants, including renowned Parc, the entire time I was in college. I’ve been at Karma for just under two years. Graduating with mostly restaurant experience was intimidating to say the least. Sure, I had it on my resume, but that was mostly to a) fill up a lot of glaring white space, and b) to show that I had general work experience and could be trusted to show up to work every day.

A few choice ads this Superbowl weekend showed brands behaving like citizens, moved to exercise the most democratic thing they own: their voices. Like so many pink-hatted marchers, those feeling unheard in recent weeks chose the most expensive, most eyeballed minutes available to deepen their communities. And I loved every minute of it.

It was a scene tucked into season three’s premiere of Black Mirror that really caught my eye. For those new to the show, Black Mirror is a disturbing yet fascinating Netflix original series based in the near future, where technology plays an even more prominent role in society than it currently does.

Last week’s 13th annual Pennsylvania Conference for Women did everything it set out to do. A sold-out crowd of 9,000 attendees packed the Convention Center to listen to and be inspired by an all-star, motivating lineup of keynotes from Olympic athlete Abby Wambach to writer and actor Mindy Kaling. Annie Clark and Anita Hill gave speeches that shook the city. Small-business owners made their fever pitches to QVC and zulily judges endeavoring to make it big. Women from all over the state networked, socialized and shared best practices.

With a name like Karma, we make it our job to send out positive vibes to the universe and hope that they will boomerang right back. For 10 weeks during the hot and humid, happy and freeing season of the year, we endured the agency's first ever #beyourbestself summer health challenge.

It’s 105 degrees, stifling hot in the city. But perfect weather for indoor, air-conditioned viewing of the 2016 Rio Olympics. Every four years, our lives revolve around the swimming, gymnastics, soccer, diving games and more. Our nights are planned, our lunch breaks are consumed with catch-up and the office is a buzz with Olympic moments.
We’ve been channelling our ever-present patriotism and love of America with the strive of Olympic Gold, setting aside—for a bit—the ugly political race. Hear what two of Karma’s Olympic mega-fans have to say about their history with the big games and how social media is influencing their perspective on Rio 2016.

Us Karmites have plenty of friends in busy places; many of whom work in fields similar to our own. While we often chat with them one-on-one to discuss the ever-changing world of communications, we figured it was high time to share the wealth. In the first blog post of a new series we like to call Karma Connected, we chat with Laiza Santos, member of the Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention's digital and social media team. While she's probably somewhere in a large crowd with her nose pressed to a brightly-lit cell phone screen right now, we were able to steal a few moments with this Jane of all trades last week to discuss her involvement with the DNC, how the social landscape is changing and what, exactly, we can do to keep up.
